Alpha 1 Antitrypsin, Human Plasma

Like alpha 1-antichymotrypsin alpha 1-antichymotrypsin might be functionally involved in the pathogenesis of the lesions of Alzheimer’s disease. Both serine protease inhibitors are found in neurofibrillary tangles and senile plaques. The major cell producing alpha 1-antitrypsin localization in seems to be the astrocytes, which are involved in both lesions.
