Protein kinase A inhibitor, IC50=135 nM. Also inhibits several other kinases, IC50 = 80, 120, 270, 2600 and 2800 nM for S6K1, MSK1, ROCKII, PKBα and MAPKAP-K1b, respectively. A useful probe for PKA but due to selectivity issues, H-89 should be used along with other PKA inhibitors to ascertain the role of PKA in cellular signaling pathways. Has been used in a novel assay employing in vivo substrate screening. Cell permeable.
