Alpha-Synuclein Preformed Fibrils

Product Background: Alpha-Synuclein (α-Synuclein) is a presynaptic protein found to be a major component of Parkinson’s Disease (PD) aggregates and is implicated in the pathogenesis of PD and related neurodegenerative disorders. These preformed fibrils of α-Synuclein may be used as a model for the pathogenic form of α-Synuclein in numerous neuropathies.

About the product: Expressed recombinantly in E. coli, human Alpha-Synuclein is purified to our highest standards to ensure batch to batch consistency in both purity and quality. The human Alpha-Synuclein is then made into preformed fibrils with their presence and length being confirmed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and thioflavin fluorescence assay.

Applications: These human Alpha-Synuclein fibrils are sold as a frozen 10mg/mL solution of total protein. The fibrils could be suitable for either in vitro or in vivo requirements such as fibril stability, seeding experiments, aggregation studies, or preformed fibril injections. Alpha-Synuclein preformed fibrils may also be used in the study of Parkinson’s Disease or Lewy Body Dementia.
